In the suburban parts of the New Territories, a local male villager is born with a land-right to a small plot of land (around 65 square-meter each) to build a residential building no higher than 8 meters. Many villagers, since they live in the cities, sell their rights to developers to build complexes of suburban single-family houses.

Our client bought one of these houses for herself and three daughters. The original partition system could only fit in three bedrooms. We proposed to utilize the ceiling height and build an attic as the fourth bedroom for the youngest daughter. The spatial and programing relationship between the attic and the two adjacent bedrooms has been very attentively articulated.

Since the house should look like the other 300 houses in the housing complex, we left the facade untouched. Most of the constructions took place in the interior and at the front gate.
