When we first saw the images of the existing site, we saw a garden. And so we designed a garden... A series of gardens.

 

We also saw a fundamental paradox in the brief: a seclusive space of retreat is now owned by 20,000+ strangers and is soon to be open to public. We had to grant the site maximum accessibility while enhancing its somewhat interior, personal, intimate experience. It was a fundamental paradox until we realized: to “access” anything, one needs to start from the “interior”, from within.
